Expecting a new mac mini ? Well if you was, you’ll have to wait another few months, because apple have released their 17-inch macbook Pro. But don’t get excited. It’s virtually the same as the new Uni-Body ones they just released, but with a 17″ screen instead - It’s also the thinnest 17″ notebook in the world. The only interesting thing here is the battery. Unfortunately for some, the battery is NOT removable. So once it’s down, it’s down unless you get it to a plug. But hey, at least it stays awake for up to 8 hours - stated by apple. Maybe they didn’t take note that users will be doing something more than browse iTunes with the top of their range macbook. Here are the specifications:
  • $2799 - same price as the older ones
  • 1920 x 1200 LED-backlit display
  • 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / 6MB L2
  • 4GB 1066 MHz DDR3 Memory
  • Nvidia GeForce 9400M
  • Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT / 512 MB
  • 320 GB Hard Drive
  • Slot-Loading Superdrive
In Conclusion, today was a very poor day. We didn’t really get anything much new, just updates. Maybe Apple are saving the best for later, let’s hope so, because I’m not waiting months and months for another, updated version of MobileMe.

The second thing apple unveiled was no, not an iPod “stick”, but a newer version of iWork. If you’re saying, what’s iWork, you should probably skip this mini article:
  •  iWork.com:
  1.  In BETA at the moment. A free service apple has gave to us, not free for long, but still free for now. The service is not unlike google documents, sharing all your important work files online, this looking cooler of course, aimed for iWork.
  • Pages:
  1. Again, not much. But we can add equations into it now! Yay, because I love equations, they’re so fun to use. But seriously, thats it (more-or-less). And why there’s such a pitiful amount in this category, I’ll tell you that Numbers - the spreadsheet one - now has table categories, more fun!
  • The iPhone app, to control slides:
  1. Yep, that more or less says it all. An iPhone app - pricing 99c - control the slides you’re on, and allows you to see what notes you’re showing, just incase ; )
  • Keynote: New object and text transitions:
  1. Yeah, more sparkly cool useless things to make your text do!
Well, surely after the slight failure we’ve had so far of releasing nothing that interesting, surely the last thing will save the day. Won’t it ?

Today was suppose to be a great day. A day of happiness and glory; MacWorld was today. We were expecting to see a new Mini, new iMac Specs, maybe an iPhone nano. But No. A big, fat, No. Apple did release something, 3 things to be exact, but I’m not bothered, are you? Lets have a look through them. Here Is Part 1 of what was released at MacWorld ‘09:
  •  iLife ‘09: Standard with all new macs comes iLife. One of the things that makes macs fun to have. Apple have updated it, and here is what they did:
  • iMovie:
  1. A new “Precision Editor”, making editing your videos more easy, and time efficient. We can Also add effects and remove sound from clips.
  2. Drag and Drop feature enables us to more easily add footage from our macs and removes the wall between iMovie and your files.
  3. Themes that change the style of writing and create a simple, effective way to create a movie.
  4. The feature to make maps - 3D and 2D - to insert into your movie. Very good if you’re making a movie of your “holiday around the world”
  5. Automatic Stabilization. If you don’t know what that is, you’re not alone. xD
  • iPhoto:
  1. Browse your photos by pointing at peoples faces. What could be more fun! Face recognition allows you to view albums from a face, instead of the random wall you took.
  2. GPS Geotagging. Already quite popular, apple are getting in on the fun. It’s quite simple, take a photo in Paris, pinpoint where you took it in Paris via Google Earth.
  3. Integration of Facebook and Flickr, allowing us to share our precious photos more easily with all our friends and family.
  • GarageBand:
  1. Learn to play the piano, or the guitar from a wonderful collection of all your favourite artists. Now, you can buy a track and a teaching video via GarageBand, to learn and practice. (9 Basic Lessons Included)
  2. New Guitar effects when you’re jammin’, complete with a new jammin’ “mode”.
That’s more-or-less it for iLife, with nothing much more important.

Don’t Say I didn’t warn you, zune users. Because what’s happened now? Well, nothing, except some of you can’t seem to even turn them on. 30Gb zunes are freezing up after an issue with the programming. The last day of a leap year has scared some zunes and reduced them to nothing more than a brick. Wonderful. Microsoft - the people who basically “own” zune - issued these steps to zune users, once they identified the problem:” 1. Disconnect your Zune from USB and AC power sources.2. Because the player is frozen, its battery will drain–this is good. Wait until the battery is empty and the screen goes black. If the battery was fully charged, this might take a couple of hours.3. Wait until after noon GMT on January 1, 2009 (that’s 7 a.m. Eastern or 4 a.m. Pacific time).4. Connect your Zune to either a USB port on the back or your computer or to AC power using the Zune AC Adapter and let it charge.”Well, there we have it. Not apple-related in any way, but I thought maybe if you didn’t know already, you’d appreciate it =D

Sounds mexican doesn’t it? Or maybe spanish . . . Anyway, here’s my review of Rolando, a game much like LocoRoco for the psp, and costing £5.99 ($9.99?) at the app store with 4 1/2 stars, what’s to lose? This game is very much addicting, so, before I go and play it again, lets go through what makes it such a great game.              Rolando On iPhone
  •  Graphics: No, this game isn’t by EA, but the graphics are perfect for it. The simplicity enables the user to quickly identify objects and lets the game, itself, run faster and smoother, improving the gameplay experience dramatically.
  • The Plot: It’s rather simple really, roll the little ball things to the end. Of course, avoiding dangerous obstacles and little mazes have to be built in to make it fun, and very addictive! There are usually around 3 or 4 rolandos to roll around, usually protecting the king ball or something. Very creative. And strange.
  • The Controls: As I said above, you roll the little people. And you do this by turning the iPod/iPhone from side to side, and it’s very responsive too! You also tap the yellow objects (as seen above) and move them as required to operate them, allowing various things and tools to be activated, making the game better!
  • Music: Not really a category, but If you’ve played LocoRoco before, you’ll know there are catchy songs they sing to entertain you further. These “rolandos” don’t sing, unfortunately, but a catchy still plays in the background, optional of course.
That’s it really, a fun addictive game! If you have any questions, be sure to comment below and I’ll be answering them shortly after. Hope you all had a nice christmas, and a Nice New year to come . . .               =]

Apple have created many revolutionary products. But, a product we’ve all used and came to love, granting it’s not quite as revolutionary as the iPod, is the Might Mouse. It may not seem a year to some, but it was released in 2005, back when we rode dinosaurs and fought with sticks. The Mighty Mouse Is the classic, simple ‘apple-white’. Featured on the old-style iMac, keyboard, and lots of other things in apple’s product lines, the mighty mouse was delicious, and it still is, but I want a new one, and I’m sure lots of other people do too. So, next year, we’ll probably see a new Mouse ! (sarcastic yay) Well, here’s what it MAY look like =]
                        New Apple Might Mouse
It Will have not a button, but a trackpad! This enables us to scroll, without clogging the scroll-wheel, and pan (the pinchy thing) without a trackpad such as that on a laptop. Yes it’s thinner (still able to accommodate batteries), and slightly longer, but look! It’s sort of aluminum coloured, a likely choice for apple, matching in with the new line of Macs they’ve made for me. Well, thats it really. When will it be made? No-one knows, Will it even be made? Hopefully . . .
